The fashion industry is the second biggest polluter on the planet. Globally, it produces 92 million tonnes of textile waste each year & is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions.

With the rise of Fast Fashion, we have seen huge pressures on land & water. They are left ravaged & polluted from toxic chemicals, which leak into the surrounding ecosystems. Nothing can live within them & nothing can live from them.

To keep Fast Fashion prices low, human costs are high. Workers are forced to accept extremely low pay, dangerous working conditions & long hours. Making it a major cause of modern day slavery.

By choosing vintage over fast fashion, you are making a positive impact on the world. Not only will you be stopping an item of clothing heading to landfill, you are preventing your cash from going into the pockets of fast fashion companies & enabling them to continue with their destructive production of clothing.

Vintage & secondhand is the kindest way to wear clothes. There is zero fabric production. By only using what is already there, we're extending the life of a garment by ReLoving or ReMaking it & keeping it out of landfill.

Everything at Latham Street is ReMade right here at our Southend Studio, by our incredible team. We're always working on ways to keep our whole business sustainable, from the recycled clothing labels & packaging, to our store being fitted with repurposed wood & metal fixtures.

Looking good shouldn't cost the earth & it doesn't have to.
